HANOVER, Va. – The husband of a woman found dead from blunt force trauma has been charged with her murder, according to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Harshadkumar Jadav, 33, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the murder of his wife, Reena Jadav.

Jadav was found dead on Sept. 5, 2016, after neighbors reported hearing screams. Her body was found in a yard near her Honey Meadows home at approximately 5:43 a.m.

Her body had “obvious signs of trauma,” investigators said.

Officers have been searching the neighborhood for a week.

The day Jadav’s body was found, deputies walked shoulder to shoulder, looking through dumpsters and lowering themselves into storm drains to search for evidence.

“I am extremely proud of our investigative team and the countless hours they have invested in this case,” said Colonel David R. Hines, Sheriff. “We would also like to thank the community for their patience and support throughout this process.”

“Although an arrest has been made, investigators continue to identify evidence in an effort to ensure support of a successful prosecution,” Hines added.

A close friend said that Jadav, age 30, worked at a local hospital.

“She brought that good attitude with her every day… Just a hard worker,” Monica Brown-Matthews said. “She really was sweet. I just appreciated seeing her every day.”

She said she’s grateful that they became fast friends and says Jadav is someone she’ll never forget.

“It was sad. One day you see a person and the next they’re gone. It’s a lesson that you should focus on telling people that you love them and care about them… Be good to them,” she added.

Brown-Matthews said she knows that friends and neighbors are anxious for investigators to solve the murder.

Anyone with further information on this incident is asked to contact the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (804) 365-6140 or the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.

Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637 (CRIMES), using the keyword “iTip” followed by their tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
