RICHMOND, Va. -- Five people were attacked Sunday morning by a group of teenagers on Richmond's Belle Isle, according to Richmond Police.

The attackers, who ranged in age from 14 to 18 years old, punched and/or threw rocks at walkers, cyclists, and runners near the Hollywood Rapids and along the nearby trails, police confirmed.

"They robbed one victim of a mobile phone," a Richmond Police spokesperson said. "Officers and a K-9 unit attempted to locate the suspects. It is believed the group departed Belle Isle by walking over the dry rocks toward Riverside Drive."

The Richmond Ambulance Authority responded to provide aid to one attack victim, but that victim refused to be taken to the hospital.

"There's just always something happening down here at the river," said Jeremy Rejuveny. "Don't come down here by yourself."

Police described the suspects as 10 to 12 black males who ranged in age from 14 to 18 years old.

Anyone with information about the attacks were asked to call First Precinct Detective Brian Taylor at 804-646-0689.
