HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Henrico Police released photos of a West End crime, hoping to the arrest a man who could be linked to at least two Henrico business robberies over the long Labor Day weekend.

The man in the photos robbed a Huron Avenue convenience store, near West Broad Street and Springfield Road, Saturday night, police said. A man who fit a similar description robbed the Stuffy's Sub shop in the Gayton Crossing shopping center Monday afternoon.

In the first crime, the man approach the counter at 11:35 p.m.

"The suspect, who indicated he had a weapon, threatened clerk and demanded money," a Henrico Police spokesman said. "After receiving money, the suspect was last seen leaving the store on foot."

Two days later, at 4:45 p.m., a man robbed the Stuffy's Sub shop located along the 9700 block of Gayton Road.

The two crime scenes are about four miles apart.

"The suspect acted as if he had weapon and demanded money. After receiving money, the suspect fled the store and was last seen on foot towards Gayton Road," police said.

Restaurant manager Benjamin Lahoussine said he believed the timing of the Labor Day restaurant robbery was no coincidence.

"The individual must have known that most of the businesses in the shopping center would be closing that day," he said. "There was only two other businesses on this side that were open at the time of the incident took place."

Robbery victims in both crimes described the robber as a 5'10" to 6'0" tall black man who was wearing a black and red [Cincinnati Reds] baseball cap, black jacket and black shorts.

The suspect in the first robbery was described as 20-25 years old, while the suspect in the second robbery was described as 30-35 years old.

No weapon was displayed in either crime and no one was hurt.

Anyone with information was asked to call Henrico Police 804-501-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
