RICHMOND, Va. – Piccadilly on West Broad Street closed their doors for good Sunday after 32 years in Richmond.

Max Jordan, Piccadilly Vice President of Marketing, confirmed the news to CBS 6 saying, “We always consider a store closure our very last option, but it is sometimes necessary as we navigate the ever-changing environment of the restaurant industry.”

Jordan did not specify what drove the restaurant’s decision to close, but did say it was a business decision. He added, factors such as rent, demographic change and others could drive a location to close.

“While we deeply regret closing in Richmond, we hope guests will visit other locations when given the opportunity,” he continued.

The closure is only for the Richmond location, located at 8004 W Broad Street. Other Virginia restaurants won’t be affected.

Jordan said Broad Street employees were given the option to transfer to those other locations. While Jordan could specify how many employees would be affected he said typical restaurants have between 40-45 employees.

“We are proud and privileged to have served the Richmond community on Broad St. since 1984 — and we would like to thank all of our guests and team members who have supported us so graciously throughout the years,” said Jordan.

The company has no plans to open another Richmond location as they will instead focus on the renovation of current locations across the south.
