LAS VEGAS (KVVU) — Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is being called a hero for helping an injured girl down a Las Vegas mountain over the weekend.
According to Tate’s Facebook page, the fighter, who resides in Las Vegas, carried a 6-year-old girl named Kai from the top of Mary Jane Falls down two miles on Sunday. Kai had suffered a broken arm. Tate just so happened to be at the outdoor attraction west of the Las Vegas Valley when she encountered Kai and her family.
Tate carried the girl after seeing the child’s mother having a difficult time holding her.
“We made it all the way down without slipping or falling!” Tate stated in her post. “We agreed we would both be strong for each other!”
Tate later posted to her Instagram a video from the girl’s family in which the child is seen thanking the UFC combatant.
“Tear jerker! Meet Kai the sweet little girl that kept me company down the mountain side, very upbeat despite her broken arm,” Tate wrote in part.
Tate, who won the women’s bantamweight title in March but dropped it in the milestone UFC 200 pay-per-view, is currently awaiting her next bout.
