RICHMOND, Va. -- Some Richmonders enjoyed a new local craft beer while raising money for the Richmond Public Schools Saturday.

Garden Grove Brewing Company in Carytown held a special release benefit.

The brewery debuted their new "Old Virginia Spruce Porter" and donated a portion of their sales to the Building a Better RPS group.

“We decided to brew a historical ale based on a couple recipes from a long time ago, so kind of honoring the history and making us go back to old school this weekend while the kids are going back to school,” John Paul Cheski with Garden Grove Brewing Company said.

For every "Old Virginia Spruce Porter" poured, Garden Grove will donate $1 to the fund.

The fundraiser continues throughout the holiday weekend.
