RICHMOND, Va. — The entry into Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is free on Labor Day, as part of Genworth Free Community Day. All visitors to the Garden receive free admission 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Free admission also includes one of the last chances to see the award-winning Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks exhibit which ends Sept. 18.
Visitors will have a chance to see the popular Butterflies LIVE! exhibit. The line to see Butterflies Live! will close at 3:30 p.m. so that guests have a chance to get through the exhibit by our 5 p.m. closing time.
Pokemon GO players will appreciate that lures will be put out at the Garden, which has over 20 Pokestops and two gyms.
Contemporary hip hop and R&B music will be provided by Heavy Hitter DJ Lonnie B and hosted by Kelli Lemon from 1-4 p.m. under the tent by Bloemendaal House.
Food is available for purchase in the Garden Cafe and in the Tea House.
The Garden is also partnering with the Lakeside Business Association as a collection site on this day for donations of school supplies benefiting Lakeside Elementary School.
The Library will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for these seeking respite from the heat. Temperatures will return to a summer average, with highs in the lower 80s.
