RICHMOND, Va. — While certain parts of the state were hit with heavy thunderstorms during the month of August, other locations were not. One such location is Richmond International Airport, the official observation site for the city of Richmond.
Only about one-half of inch of rain has fallen at the airport so far this month. The prospects for decent rainfall through the end of the month are slim, so the monthly total may not grow a lot more, if at all.
As of now, August 2016 is the third driest August on record for Richmond, running over 3.5″ below normal. This comes on the heels of the wettest May and seventh wettest June on record. July ended up fairly close to normal.
