RICHMOND, Va -- Temperatures soared into the mid and upper 90s on Friday. The high temperature at Richmond International Airport hit 99° at 3:42 p.m. This tied the record high of 99° from 1975, and was 12° above the normal high of 87°.
A cold front slipped southward through the state Saturday morning, and this will keep highs over the weekend at least a few degrees lower. A more pronounced drop in the heat and humidity will arrive later in the week ahead.
