RICHMOND, Va. – Police have released the name of the 43-year-old woman fatally struck by a vehicle in South Richmond Friday night.
Police said the accident happened around 9:17 p.m. at the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and Cherokee Road.
"A 2002 Lexus ES3 traveling eastbound on Forest Hill Avenue near the intersection of Cherokee Road struck a pedestrian, who was crossing Forest Hill Avenue outside of the crosswalk," officials said in a news release Saturday.
Police said Cassandra D. Gordon of the 7800 block of Forest Hill Avenue died at the scene
The driver did stop and no charges are expected to be filed, police said Saturday.
The area of Forest Hill Avenue was closed for at least two hours as officers took measurements and interviewed witnesses.
