CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A traffic stop led to two arrests for a mobile methamphetamine lab bust in Chesterfield County Wednesday.
Multiple agencies were on-site at Forest Lake Road and Jeff Davis Highway, where the men were initially stopped.
At least five police cars, an ambulance, and two fire trucks responded to the scene Wednesday afternoon. A CBS 6 reporter witnessed a man being hosed down in a kiddie pool and then handcuffed.
"During a traffic stop in the area of Forest Lake Road and Jefferson Davis Highway, suspicious substances were found in the suspect vehicle," said spokesperson Liz Caroon, with Chesterfield Police. "Hazmat personnel were called out."
Police said officers observed evidence of the manufacture of methamphetamine in the suspect's vehicle.
Michael Keith Mays and Kenneth Lee Tinsley were arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Mays, 30, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy to possess methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.
Tinsley, 30, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
Police sources tell CBS 6, shortly after the stop, police made additional arrests at the Budget Inn motel in connection with the mobile meth lab.
Police said their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
