RICHMOND, Va. -- An area of Church Hill in Richmond was blocked off after workers found an unexploded military ordnance in a building that was under construction.
The age of the explosive was not immediately known.
Experts from Fort Belvoir, about 95 miles north of Richmond, were headed to town to examine and collect the device.
While Richmond Police did not believe anyone was in danger due to the explosive, foot and vehicle traffic was restricted in the area of 24th and East Marshall Street.
The explosive was discovered by workers on the Patrick Henry Square project. Patrick Henry Square is a the transformation of the Nolde Garage into an apartment building with retail space.
