HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- One expectant mother in Florida is moving to Virginia because of concerns over the Zika virus.

Gigi Mains will be driving to the Commonwealth where she will stay with her family until her child is born.

She said the move makes perfect sense, given what's at stake.

“He is our life and he comes first, and same with this baby. And I want to give that baby a chance that he had, you know, to be healthy and have a good life,” Mains said.

Jarrod Mains , her husband, said he thinks the separation makes sense.

“If we have to move away and separate for six months, that's pennies in the long run.”

No Zika cases have originated in Broward County, where the Mains live.

But local transmissions have been confirmed in two areas in the nearby Miami-Dade County.
