RICHMOND, Va. --  An approaching cold front will trigger some thunderstorms Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening.  The best chance of seeing storms in the metro is between roughly 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.   However, since the storms will be scattered, they will not affect everyone.

Storms will have heavy rainfall and isolated storms may produce strong wind gusts. There will be a slightly better chance of some stronger storms north of I-64 up into northern Virginia.

Cooler and less humid air will be here the first half of the week ahead with highs in the mid 80s.  Daybreak lows will be near 60° in Richmond Tuesday through Thursday mornings, but outlying areas will be in the 50s.  This will be the coolest weather in two months.

Temperatures and humidity levels will increase the second half of the week with highs back to around 90° Friday through next weekend.  An isolated storm or two is possible Friday, mostly northwest of Richmond.
