PETERSBURG, Va. -- More than 800 Dominion Virginia Power customers lost power overnight after a car crashed into a power pole at South Park Drive, near Flank Drive, in Petersburg.

Dominion Virginia Power said they got calls about the power outage at about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Only one car was involved in the crash, and no one was hurt, police said.

The crash caused power lines to fall off the pole, and the pole to lean over the road.

Dominion Virginia Power restored power to the 842 affected customers before 6 a.m.

Police are still investigating why the driver crashed into the power pole.
