ALBANY, Ore. — A man suffered a broken leg after he was compacted several times while inside a garbage truck.
The Albany Police Department and the Albany Fire Department responded to the scene Thursday morning, KPTV reports.
Police said the man was trapped inside the back of a front-loading Republic Services truck.
The man had been asleep in the dumpster, according to officials.
The truck reportedly picked up the dumpster and emptied the contents into the compactor. The victim was compacted several times before he was able to get the driver’s attention by throwing items at the truck.
One of his legs was fractured but he is otherwise ok.
Albany police said the situation could have been a lot worse and that the man is lucky to be alive.
