RICHMOND, Va. -- After a few days with lots of clouds and somewhat cooler temperatures, highs Saturday afternoon will break 90° in many locations.  The heat index will touch or exceed 100° during the afternoon.

A cold front will pass through Virginia Saturday afternoon into the evening.  Widely scattered storms will be ahead of the front.  Chances for storms in the metro begin to increase after about 4 p.m., especially in the 7 to 11 p.m. time frame.   Storms will have heavy downpours and isolated storms may contain some stronger wind gusts.

Storms will exit to the south in the late evening hours, with many areas drying out overnight.  A few leftover showers are possible south of Richmond on Sunday morning.  Clouds and humidity levels will decrease from north to south as Sunday wears on.
