NELSON COUNTY, Va. -- Alexis Murphy's friends and relatives gathered Wednesday night to mark the third anniversary of Alexis' disappearance.
The Nelson County student was 17 years old when she was last seen alive on August 3, 2013.
She has since been declared deceased.
One of the last people to see her alive, Randy Taylor, has since been convicted of her murder.
The guilty verdict was reached despite the fact Murphy's body has never been found.
"Just the wait. It's been three years and still no answer... it's just hard," Alexis' mother Laura Murphy told WDBJ7. "Maybe if he could tell me where she's at, then maybe I could forgive him."
Taylor, who maintained his innocence throughout his 2014 trial, was sentenced to multiple life sentences for Alexis' murder.

Murphy's relatives said the pain they feel over the loss of Alexis has not gone away.
"They say it gets easier with time. It doesn't," aunt Angela Taylor said. "Especially when you have no idea where your loved one is or where Alexis is."
