Police arrest second suspect in shooting near VCU bookstore, 3 men wanted

RICHMOND, Va. — Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and are searching for three additional suspects after a man was shot in the back near the VCU bookstore on West Broad Street in mid-July.

Kiante M. Smith, 20, of Chesterfield County, turned himself in Saturday at Second Precinct. He has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Last week, D-Vonn A. Reaux, 20, of Chesterfield County, turned himself in to authorities at RPD Headquarters. Reaux was charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of West Broad Street just before 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 16.

They found  a man lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said 22-year-old Montrell Graves, of Chesterfield County, is wanted in connection to the shooting and is considered armed and dangerous. If you see Graves, call police immediately. Do not try to approach them.

Graves is described as a black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 225 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

There are also two additional suspect wanted by police in connection with the shooting. Police said video captured two other unidentified suspects fleeing the shooting scene.

The first suspect is described as a black male with light facial hair who wore a black T-shirt with a design on the front and dark shorts at the time of the incident. The second suspect is also a black male with some facial hair who wore a Baltimore Ravens shirt with “Lewis #52” on the back and jeans.

Witnesses told CBS 6 the shooting stemmed from argument after Club 534 mansion let out, but police have not confirmed that information.
