HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Firefighters surprised a six-year-old girl from Mechanicsville as she returned home from the hospital Saturday evening.

Sawyer Perkins and her family have been at St. Jude’s Children's Hospital since May. That is where she had been battling cancer and had two tumors removed.

And when she came, she received a big surprise from Hanover County firefighters, who had a new playhouse waiting for her.

The team spent long hours putting the finishing touches on the shed all in time for Sawyer to come homecoming.

Family and friends gathered as they presented the little home to her.
