Employee dies after falling down elevator shaft at Seattle business

SEATTLE — Police in Seattle are investigating after a man fell to his death down an elevator shaft at the Avis building in downtown Seattle on Sunday, according to KCPQ.

Seattle Fire responded to a rescue call just after 7:30 a.m Sunday morning. When firefighters arrived, they found the man had fallen at least 30 feet down the elevator shaft.

Medics rushed the man to Harborview Medical Center where he later died.

Officers told KCPQ the victim was an employee at the car rental business.

Homicide detectives are working alongside the Department of Labor and Industries and OSHA to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s fall.
