ASHLAND, Va. -- This weekend one local school nurse is once again shaving her head for charity.

Sarah Pless, a nurse at Ettrick Elementary School in Chesterfield County, will cut off her locks for CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundationduring a special event Saturday.

The organization was founded in memory of Charlotte Jennie. The local child who bravely fought brain cancer, but passed away in 2010 at the age of four.

The foundation helps families of children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

During a similar fundraising event last summer, Pless agreed to shave her head and raised more than $800 for the organization.

“My hair has grown back this much since then,” Pless said. “And, Roger, who is CJ’s father, very kindly asked me if I would do it again this year."

Pless agreed and said she hopes to raise $1,000 this year.

The all-day event, CJ The DJ's Boogaloo Festival, is this Saturday at Center of the Universe Brewery in Ashland.

Pless said she will take the stage to shave her head around 7 p.m.
