Man charged with arson after Chesterfield garage goes up in flames

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A man has been charged with arson after a garage at a Chesterfield home caught fire Sunday evening.

Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Lt. Jason Elmore said crews were dispatched to a home in the 10000 block of Winterpock Road just before 6 p.m.

Officials said the fire broke out in a detached garage and was quickly extinguished.

Elmore said the fire marshal deemed the fire suspicious.

The suspect’s name will be released Monday.

Officials said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
