RICHMOND, Va. -- An arson investigation is underway to figure out who lit a car on fire outside the Stony Point Apartment complex in South Richmond. The initial fire spread to two other cars, damaging all three vehicles. The damage were discovered Monday morning.

Neighbors reported seeing huge flames and hearings several small explosions at about 3 a.m. Monday.

No injuries were reported in this fire.

The apartment complex is located along the 3000 Stony Lake Drive off Huguenot Road.

One of the cars belongs to resident Jim Flagg.

"Heard some loud bangs and some light coming up through my window and I peeked out and saw both vehicles on fire. The fire was as high as the trees here," said Flagg.

"If the trees had caught fire and it had any wind it would've gone to the developments," said Gail Schechter, a resident.
Fire investigators are asking for the public's help to find the person responsible. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

This is a developing story. Anyone with additional information can submit a news tip here.
