CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed Genito Road (Route 604) to through traffic between Cove Ridge Lane and Sailview Drive in Chesterfield County. Work crews will replace the 70-year-old bridge.
The new structure, located over Tomahawk Creek, will replace the aging structure originally built in 1939.
Weather permitting; construction is expected take approximately 30 days.
Drivers should follow the posted detour routes:
Eastbound Genito Rd. (Rt. 604) – Take Woolridge Rd. (Rt. 668) north to Watermill Pkwy. north to Old Hundred Rd. (Rt. 652) east to Charter Colony Pkwy. (Rt. 754) south back to Genito Rd. (Rt. 604).
Westbound Genito Rd. (Rt. 604) – Take Charter Colony Pkwy. (Rt. 754) north to Old Hundred Rd. (Rt. 652) west to Watermill Pkwy. south to Woolridge Rd. (Rt. 668) south back to Genito Rd. (Rt. 604).
