City offering free sports physicals to middle and high school students

RICHMOND, Va. — This summer the city of Richmond is offering free sports physicals to middle and high school student athletes ages 13 and older.

The program is being offered by the Richmond City Health District at selected Community Resources Centers in Richmond neighborhoods.

“Parents who have children that participate in school sports know how challenging and expensive it can be to get required sports physicals for their children, so this is an excellent time to take advantage of the free physicals,” a Richmond City Health District spokesperson said in a press release.

The physicals are being offered on specific dates:

Tuesday, July 19 – (8:30a-12:30p) Gilpin Resource Center, 436 Calhoun Street, phone: 804-786-1960

Parents and students are asked to bring a current, April 2016 VHSL (Virginia High School League) Athletic Parental Consent/Physical Exam Form. The form most be completed and signed by the student and a parent/guardian to receive a physical.

In addition, all students must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Walk-ins are welcomed if the resources center’s schedule permits. Appointments are preferred.
