DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. – Katy Daniel, the woman who suffered a tragic farming accident that left her with a severe scalp injury Mother’s Day weekend, returned home from the hospital Sunday.
After nearly 60 days in the hospital, Daniel’s family members said she needed cheering up, so her twin sister, Taylor Daniel, shaved her head as a show of solidarity and love.
While the love of a sister is an amazing thing, there is certainly no bond like that of a twin, so Taylor grabbed the scissors and then clippers as she hacked off her long hair Wednesday night.
Since the farming accident removed her twin’s scalp, Taylor has known Katy will have to wear a wig or scarf for the rest of her life.
Taylor said she chopped off her hair to make her sister more comfortable.
"Because I'm her twin, she looks at me and thinks… she's looking in a mirror. So I want her to know that, we're still beautiful without hair. It's the inside that matters," Daniel said.
Taylor said she had only had her hair cut five times over the years. While Katy will one day have a wig with long hair, Taylor knows it will be a long time before hers grows back.
She said what matters most is supporting her sister.
