Police ID man killed in Amelia County crash

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. -- One man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Amelia County.

Virginia State Police said the wreck happened at 1 p.m. 1:00 p.m. on Bevils Bridge Road just east of Route 153 Military Road.

The crash involved a single vehicle and the one person in the vehicle was killed,

"A Chevrolet Silverado pickup was travelling east on Route 602, when it ran off the road to the right, overcorrected left causing it to go sideways of the road to the left striking a tree on the passenger side," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said.

Officials said the driver, 31-year-old Toney M. Holloway of Amelia Courthouse, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
