Marshals arrest 22-year-old suspect in Shockoe Bottom shooting

CHESTERFIELD, Va. – An arrest had been made in a shooting that happened in May, in the 200 block of North 18th Street in Shockoe Bottom, near Grace Street.

A Chesterfield County man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection with the shooting, which happened near midnight on May 30.

A Richmond ambulance crew assigned to Shockoe Bottom witnessed the shooting and was able to quickly respond to the victim and take him to the hospital. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument.

Kieran M. Nyangaresi, 22, of the 1000 block of Westwood Village Way in Chesterfield County, is charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He was taken into custody Tuesdays afternoon, June 21, by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force.
