RICHMOND, Va. — WTVR CBS 6 wore purple and used purple social media graphics on Friday, June 17 to mark Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month.
“Nationwide, there are an estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, including 140,000 Virginians,” Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Richmond spokesman Jeff Baldwin said. “Within the next 10 years, the number will climb to 190,000.”
Baldwin said in the greater Richmond area, nearly 26,000 individuals have the disease and many turn to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Richmond Chapter for services and support.
In June, we “Go Purple” to honor those facing Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.
