ETTRICK, Va. — The warning status the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) placed on Virginia State University has been removed, according to the university officials. The warning was placed on the university in 2015.

“Over the past few months, we have worked diligently to provide documentation that transparently addressed compliance with the relevant SACSCOC standards and committed to devoting the necessary resources to not only meet, but to exceed these accreditation standards,” VSU President Dr. Makola M. Abdullah said in a statement. “This process has afforded us the opportunity to be intentional about enhancing policies, programs, services, and operations.”

Harry Black, the Rector of the VSU Board of Visitors, praised Dr. Abdullah for his leadership.

“He and his staff worked tirelessly to ensure that VSU met and exceeded the SACSCOC standards,” Black said. “Congratulations to the academic professionals at VSU for continuing to provide excellent academic opportunities for students.”
