CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A woman charged for driving while intoxicated and causing a crash that killed a Chesterfield mother is due in court Tuesday.
Donna Browning, 59, of Old Zion Hill Road, was charged with DWI in relation to the May 5 crash along the 2300 block of West Hundred Road.
Browning's Toyota 4Runner was headed west on West Hundred Road when it crossed over the median and into the eastbound lanes, police said.
Her vehicle collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz driven by Lesley N. Andorful.
Andorful, 40, of River Fork Way in Chesterfield, was taken to VCU Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The single mother of three was on her way home from buying gifts for her children’s teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week, according to Andorful's friends.
Andorful's co-workers in the orthopedic spine unit at St. Mary’s Hospital described her as "the heartbeat of the unit."
Police said the investigation was on-going and additional charges were possible.
