RICHMOND, Va. — Longtime Richmond Police detective David Melvin died Monday after a years-long battled cancer.
“Detective Melvin tenaciously worked his caseload – constantly driven by the victim’s experiences in Youth and Family Crimes cases to bring justice,” Major Crimes Captain James Laino said. “He was the embodiment of caring dedication to his community and the Department and will be missed.”
Melvin worked at the Richmond Police Department for 19 years.
Many upcoming fundraisers, including this weekend’s 5K for Dave, set-up to help pay for this on-going medical costs will now be focused on helping his family.
