Man suffers life-threatening injuries in Petersburg shooting

PETERSBURG, Va. -- Police are investigating a shooting in the 700 block of E. Washington St. in Petersburg Monday evening.

Police said they received a call for shots fired around 6:45 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they didn't see a victim. They were later told the victim was driven to near-by Southside Regional Medical Center.

The victim was then transported via med-flight to VCU Medical Center. Police said the victim's injuries are life threatening.

Police sources tell CBS 6 the male victim was shot twice in the neck.

Investigators are still canvasing the scene.

Police have not released any information about a possible suspect at this time.
