Varina: A chance to honor and remember those who have served the United States Military, past and present. The annual Memorial Day Program sponsored by Richmond National Battlefield Park, in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is Monday, May 30 at Fort Harrison National Cemetery on the Fort Harrison battlefield.

The Memorial Day program and wreath-laying honors and remembers those who have died in our nation’s service—especially those soldiers and sailors from the Civil War. The cemetery at 8620 Varina Road is two miles south of Route 5 and houses more than 800 Civil War soldiers. Special guest speaker is CBS 6’s Greg McQuade. The program starts at noon and is free and open to all.

Richmond National Battlefield Park protects 13 Civil War sites around the city of Richmond, Virginia.  All programs are free.  For further information, visit www.nps.gov/rich or call 804-226-1981.
