CHARLES CITY, Va. — Drivers should use detours and expect delays along Jordan Point Rd./Benjamin Harrison Bridge/Route 156 in Charles City/Prince George.

Crews closed Jordan Point Rd. (Rt. 106/156) to through traffic between James River Dr. (Rt. 10) and John Tyler Memorial Hwy. (Rt. 5), which includes the Benjamin Harrison Bridge, due to downed utility lines. The downed lines are located just south of the Benjamin Harrison Bridge, near Jordan Pkwy.

Repairs were expected to last through afternoon rush hour but have been extended “until further notice.”

Local drivers are encouraged to use the following detour:
• Take Jordan Point Road (Route 106/156) south to Route 10 west. Take Interstate 295 north to Route 5 (Exit 22A) back to Jordan Point Road (Route 106/156).

Through travelers can use Interstates 295 and 64 or the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry as alternate routes to the Hampton Roads area.

The closure will not affect marine travel.
