HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Seven people were hurt when a pair of shoplifting suspects tried to make a fast getaway from Target on Staples Mill Road in western Henrico.
Both Jeremy W. Dodge, 33, and Victikia Coker, 26, were taken to the hospital with what police called minor injuries Sunday afternoon after they tried to get around cars stopped at a red light at the intersection of Staples Mill and Hungary Road, police said.
Four other cars were damaged in the process.
Five people in those cars were hurt. Three of the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been released.
How it Happened
Henrico Police officers were dispatched to the Glen Allen Target for a shoplifting call at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Henrico Police spokesman Lt. C.J. Maurice said.
As officers were about to arrive at the store, they spotted the suspects' gray car leaving the parking lot.
Maurice said officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but the driver kept going.
Police then pursued the suspect's car. The pursuit ended with the crash at the red light.
Dodge was charged with Grand Larceny, Larceny with Intent to Sell, Felony Eluding Police, Child Endangerment, and Felony Hit and Run.
Coker was charged with Grand Larceny, Conspiracy to Commit Grand Larceny, and Felony Child Neglect.
The Child Neglect charge was due to the fact there was an infant in the car at the time.
Police were seen recovering items from the suspects' car.
