WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The man who was struck and killed by a CSX train in Williamsburg early Friday morning was trying to walk across the tracks, according to Williamsburg Police.

“This appears to be accidental,” Williamsburg Police spokesman Major Greg Riley said. “All witness accounts of this incident indicate the deceased was struck by the train as he was crossing the tracks to get back to his hotel.”

The man’s name has not yet been released. Police said he was a 25-year-old contract worker from out of state.

The man was killed at about 3:12 a.m. near 715 Lafayette Street.
