Robber puts 76-year-old store owner in choke hold

HONOLULU -- CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are looking for five suspects in two separate robberies at the Y-7 Grocery and Liquor store on Gulick Avenue in Kalihi.

On Friday, May 13 at around 9 a.m., two masked men entered the store and approached the store owner, a 74-year-old man.

They brandished weapons and demanded money.

One of the suspects opened the cash register and both of them fled the scene on foot.

On Monday, May 16 at around 6 p.m., a customer entered the store and found the store owner, a 76-year-old woman, bleeding on the ground.

Officers reviewed surveillance video and saw three men enter the store.

One of the men used a submission hold on the woman while another man removed money from the cash register. A third man was the lookout.

The woman was hospitalized with serious injuries to her head.
