TYSON’S CORNER, Va. — One of the people who was injured after a disgruntled employee ran his Hummer into the Silver Diner in Tyson’s Corner earlier this month has died.

Andrew Sheren, 74, of McLean died Tuesday from complications resulting from injuries he sustained in the Tyson’s Corner crash, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Sheren was the man struck while walking into the Silver Diner.

Police previously charged 59-year-old Samuel Abutoh with malicious wounding and destruction of property. Additional charges are possible. Abutoh remains under the care of a local hospital, but will be served warrants upon his release.

Police said Abutoh intentionally drove his Hummer, into the restaurant multiple times, then poured liquid on himself and set himself on fire. A Silver Diner spokesperson said the driver worked at the diner, but had been on bereavement leave.

A total of three people were hurt in the crash.
