CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- The deaths of a husband and wife inside a Chesterfield home were being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to police.

A nurse's aide discovered the bodies in a home along the 2700 block of Newquay Lane Wednesday morning.

"Officers found Marilyn A. Rudzinski, 68, and her husband, Dennis J. Rudzinski, 73, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "At this point, evidence at the scene suggests that Dennis Rudzinski shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself."

Neighbors and police sources said Mrs. Rudzinski was suffering from terminal Cancer.

"This is super quiet neighborhood, this is really unexpected nothing like this happens around here,” said one neighbor. “You don't think of this as being a place where something like this could happen."

Investigators called this an isolated incident and said they were not looking for any suspects at this time.

Police wanted neighbors to know there was no threat to the community.

Chesterfield Police are asking if you have any information concerning the Rudzinski's to call Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
