SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — One day after Virginia State Police issued a statewide missing person’s alert for 81-year-old Ronald Jackson, the Spotsylvania man was found 200 miles away in Pennsylvania.
Jackson, who lives with Alzheimer’s disease, left home Sunday. A Silver Alert was issued when Jackson never came home.
“Jackson had driven his vehicle to Pennsylvania and ran out of gas in the Radnor, Penn., Township. Mr. Jackson was contacted by local law enforcement and they responded to the Silver Alert, which was sent out by the Virginia State Police,” Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Captain Jeffery Pearce said. “Mr. Jackson is in good health and his family members have been contacted to arrange for his safe return home.”
Sheriff Harris said his office was relieved Mr. Jackson was found safe.
“It’s another example of how the Silver Alert and cooperative efforts between public safety agencies work so well,” he said.
