RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond will once again host the Washington Redskins Training Camp at the Bon Secours Training Center later this summer. The 3rd Annual River City Golf Classic will bring some of the greatest names in Redskins’ history back to Richmond for a charity golf tournament that will begin the team’s Road Trip To Richmond in preparation for training camp.

This year’s tournament will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 and will be held at a private course in the West End which will be announced at a later date. Some of the names expected to be in attendance are General Manager Scot McCloughan and Head Coach, Jay Gruden. Bruce Allen, President, Larry Michael, Voice of the Redskins and fan favorite Doug Williams, Super Bowl XXII Champion and MVP, are also expected to return.

“We’re proud to support youth programs at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center,” said President Bruce Allen.

Twenty-four foursomes will play alongside representatives of the Washington Redskins organization including front office personnel and alumni players. The tournament will tee-off at 9:15 a.m. after a 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. check-in and VIP breakfast. Foursomes can be secured for $1,500, which includes greens fees, cart, food, drinks, a gift, and admittance to the Fan and Foursome Luncheon & Silent Auction, an event for Washington Redskins fans, golfers and sponsors, which will take place from noon to 3:00 p.m.

The Fan and Foursome Luncheon and Silent Auction is a wonderful opportunity for fans to mix and mingle with Washington Redskins alumni players and personnel. Tickets are available for fans and golfers’ guests at $50.00 each and must be purchased in advance of the event. Those in attendance will also have a chance to bid on special Washington Redskins merchandise such as jerseys, footballs and helmets signed by players and an exclusive opportunity to bid for a foursome at the annual Redskins Partner Golf Outing held at Creighton Farms in the Northern Virginia during the fall and a VIP dinner with the team for the winning bidder and eight of their closest friends (must meet or better a minimum reserve bid).

“In case you hadn’t heard, Richmond was named one of the Best Places to Travel in 2016 by Travel & Leisure Magazine,” said Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones. “The River City Golf Classic is the perfect opportunity to come out and enjoy Richmond. After swinging your clubs, go ahead and check out the many restaurants and galleries that everyone is talking about. There is so much to do here in our city and we are pleased to add the River City Golf Classic to the list of things we can invite people to come out and enjoy.”

Participating Washington Redskins alumni will be announced via the event Facebook page as their names are released to tournament organizers.

For the past two years, alumni participants included Mike Bragg, Mark Moseley, Dion Foxx, Roy Jefferson, Ken Harvey, Rich Milot, Mark Stock, Darryl Grant, Clarence Vaughn, Mike Nelms, Ken Jenkins and others.

Local business and corporations will have the opportunity to participate in The River City Golf Classic through various sponsorship levels and other partnership opportunities. A portion of the proceeds of this event will support youth programs at Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center.
