RICHMOND, Va. -- After reaching highs in the lower 80s, a strong cold front passed late Saturday, ushering in much cooler weather.  Low temperatures Sunday morning dropped down into the low and mid 40s for many locations.

It will be even colder Sunday night into Monday morning.  High pressure will be nearby early Monday, providing mostly clear skies, lighter winds and very dry air.  This will cause temperatures to drop into the 30s for our outlying areas.  Winds may stay up just enough to prevent any frost from forming, but if you have planted anything delicate thus far, you may want to cover it tonight just to be safe.

The official low for Richmond (recorded at the airport) will be close to 40°, which is very close to a record and about 15° below normal.  Monday's low will be the coldest temperature in about a month.
