Car crashes into school bus with special needs students on board

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Five students with special needs were on a Henrico County school bus involved in a crash at the intersection of Parham Road and Weldon Drive, near Patterson Avenue, Monday afternoon.

None of the students were hurt, according to the principal of Maybeury Elementary School.

The initial investigation revealed a car hit the back of the bus, according to Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley. Police have not yet said what charges, if any, the driver will face.

Photos taken from the site of the crash showed a white car crumbled under the back of the bus.

No one in the car was injured, police said.

A fire engine remained on scene is helping contain and clean an anti-freeze leak.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.

One lane of southbound Parham Road, near Weldon Drive, was blocked as a result of the crash.
