Police block off Chesterfield neighborhood amid barricade situation

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va -- Police blocked off a Chesterfield neighborhood as they try to negotiate with a man inside a home.

The barricade situation is in the 5900 block of Sara Kay Drive. It began at around 10:00 Monday night.  Police were called when the man, who is 45, told his family members he was going to hurt himself.

Police believed he may be armed. He is alone in the home. Police were trying to negotiate with him over a loudspeaker.

Meanwhile, no one was being allowed into the neighborhood.

Chesterfield Police said they would allow people who live nearby to leave for work. They scaled back their response at around 6:00 Tuesday morning.
