PETERSBURG, Va. – Richmond native Russell Wilson will be joined by another player from the Tri-Cities area. C.J. Prosise was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the recent NFL Draft,
Prosise is a Petersburg native who played safety at the Woodberry Forest School before he went to Notre Dame, where he played wide receiver and running back.
On the day of the draft, Seattle General Manager John Schneider called Prosise and asked if he wanted to be a Seahawk.
“Ya, I do,” he said emphatically. “I appreciate you, man.”
“Congratulations…come on and work your ass off,” Schneider responded. “We are excited about you.”
Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll took the phone and told Prosise they had been waiting to get this done.
“You ready to come in here and play some ball?” he asked Prosise. “You’re going to be a running back, and get ready to catch some balls too,” he added.
“I can’t wait,” Prosise said.
He joins a team whose roster also includes Virginia native Kam Chancellor, who played at Virginia Tech.
