HENRICO, Va. -- An online crime records search of a West End apartment community details more than two dozen crimes in Kings Crossing, since January of 2016. The findings also reveal there were five victims injured in those crimes.

Now, some neighbors are asking when their property management team will take more action to beef up security.

Monday morning a man was stabbed along Castile Road outside of Maggie Tillack’s apartment building.

She said it was once again a crime too close to home. A little more than three weeks ago she and her family were shaken that a man was shot outside of their building when a group a people walked up to him and asked for cigarettes.

When he refused, the man was shot.  Maggie says it had them on edge, because the shooting happened just minutes before her husband came home from work.

Monday’s crime scene was unsettling for Maggie and neighbors in Kings Crossing.

They are hoping police will soon catch the two men who stabbed a victim shortly before 2 a.m.

“I’m paranoid,” she said. “I don’t sleep good now.”

She and other neighbors are worried for their children and want management to do more.

“I have seen police coming through here more often than before,” said resident Derrick Banks. “I think about every hour on the hour. Maybe we need to come up with another solution and beef up more security.”

A property manager at the complex said they are using off-duty police for increased security. They are also offering another $5,000 reward for information. That reward is for anyone who can help police identify the stabbing suspects.

Marti Tillack hopes Henrico Police will nab the criminals ASAP.

Until then, she plans to press her daughter Maggie to remain vigilant, no matter what.

“To make sure she has the security system on. She had her father bolt the back door. It’s a sliding door. I want to make sure she stays locked up inside. At least at night, she’s protected in there,” Tillack added.

If you can help police, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

The apartment complex managers say they are also working on a plan to add more lighting to the area.
