PETERSBURG, Va. -- A trash truck worker at Container First Services (CFS) in Petersburg saw what appeared to be two little feet inside of his trash truck, and then discovered a deceased infant, according to his boss.

Robert Guidry, who is the President and CEO of CFS, said the hopper of the truck had just come down and pushed a bag in “and as the bag rolled over and headed toward the hopper to be compacted the infant fell out of a white trash bag.”

Guidry said he rushed out to the truck when his employee called, and he saw the lifeless baby for himself.

“Obviously none of us will ever forget this day in our life, I can tell you that,” Guidry said.

Petersburg Police said the juvenile mother is in custody and has been charged with concealing a body.

CBS 6 reporter Sandra Jones talked to a man who did not want to be identified, but said he is the mother’s half-brother.

“She was very quiet, she doesn’t say much,” the man said.

He said the girl is 16, and she just moved to Petersburg six months ago. He said he did not know she was pregnant, and said she should be held accountable if she is found guilty.

“A crime is a crime.  You got to pay,” the man said.

But, Guidry said he feels compassion for the teen.

“It’s sad because the poor young lady’s life is ruined from a poor decision, and she obviously didn’t feel like she could reach out to anybody,” Guidry said.

The baby has been taken to the Medical Examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
