Victim shot near elementary school on Richmond’s Northside

RICHMOND, Va. -- One person was shot on Richmond's Northside Monday night, police sources tell CBS 6.

Richmond Police were on the scene in the 2100 block of 4th Ave. Monday night. Sources said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m., less than a half mile away from Overby-Sheppard Elementary School.

Sources said the victim was taken to VCU Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not clear.

Neighbors tell CBS 6 they heard several shots around that time frame. On neighbor even said she saw two cars speeding away from the scene.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
